BIG IDEA
Surrender isn't ____________________; it's trusting God enough to give Him ____________________.
Last week we asked:
Whose kingdom am I building?
This week we ask:
Whose __________________ am I willing to follow?
These two phrases belong together:
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done.
Because God's kingdom cannot fully come through us if we're determined to have our own __________________.

Sometimes the issue isn't that their way is wrong.
We just like having __________________.
And that brings us to: “Your will be done.”
DISCOVER

THINK ABOUT IT
What makes Jesus' prayer in the garden so powerful?______________________________________________________________________________________________________
The Lord's Prayer isn't theoretical.
Jesus eventually had to pray it Himself.
When the moment came where His will and the Father's will __________________, Jesus __________________.
POINT 1
GOD'S WILL ISN'T ALWAYS THE EASIEST WILL
Sometimes we subconsciously believe:
God's will = everything going __________________.
But look at Jesus.
Jesus was perfectly inside God's will, and He was heading toward the __________________.
Being in God's will does not mean you will never experience __________________.
Sometimes God's will takes us through uncomfortable places because He is producing something in us that __________________ never could.
Following God isn't:
“God, make my life __________________.” It's “God, make my life __________________.”

POINT 2
SURRENDER IS NOT DEFEAT
We often think surrender means:
“I __________________.”
But Biblical surrender means:
“I __________________.”
Jesus wasn't saying:
“I don't care what happens.”
He was saying:
“I trust the Father more than I trust my own __________________.”
That's __________________.
Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.”
Faith is trusting God's __________________ when you can't see what God sees.
God sees the whole __________________.
We see one __________________.

GOD'S WILL REQUIRES TRUST
One reason surrender is difficult is because we want __________________.
We say:
“God, I'll obey if You __________________ it.”
But faith often says:
“I'll obey even when I don't _________________ it.”
Think about Abraham.
God said: “Go.”
Abraham __________________.
God didn't give him the entire __________________.
He gave him the next __________________.
God often gives direction one step at a time because __________________ is part of the destination.
If God showed us everything at once, we might trust the __________________ instead of trusting __________________.

GOD'S WILL ISN'T JUST ABOUT BIG DECISIONS
We tend to think God's will means:
Who should I __________________?
What job should I __________________?
Where should I __________________?
Those things matter.
But God's will is also revealed in everyday __________________.
God's will can look like:
Forgive. __________________.
Serve.____________________.
Tell the __________________.
Give__________________.
Pray.__________________.
Honor._________________.

Romans 12:2 “...that by testing you may discern what is the __________________ of God...”
God's will isn't simply something we __________________.
It's something we learn to __________________ as we become more like Jesus.
The more your heart becomes like God's heart, the more you naturally want what God __________________.

Take a moment and physically open your hands.
Closed hands say:

Surrender doesn't mean you stop caring.
It means you stop demanding that God do it __________________ way.
MY PRAYER OF SURRENDER
Father, I surrender my plans. I surrender my timelines. I surrender my expectations. I surrender the things I cannot control. I surrender my need to understand everything.
Finish this prayer:

Every morning this week, pray:
“Father, whatever You ask me to do today, my answer is __________________.”
Then throughout the day ask:
“What would __________________ look like right now?”
Don't wait for some huge spiritual assignment.
Look for the __________________ opportunities.
This week, obedience might look like:
Forgiveness.
Service.
Generosity.
Encouragement.
Apologizing.
Listening.
