ROBBED OF RICHES, WEEK 2: “Regaining My Power”

Deep Dive 6/29/25

Exercising God’s Supernatural Power

2 Timothy 1:7

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love and self-discipline.”

God gives His children His supernatural power. It is His will that we use that power to walk in obedience to His will. Walking is forward motion, not being stagnant because of fear. God wants us to be bold in our faith because His power is present within us. Our obedience leads us to action which releases His power.

Joshua 3:14-17

14 So the people left their camp to cross the Jordan, and the priests who were carrying the Ark of the Covenant went ahead of them. 15 It was the harvest season, and the Jordan was overflowing its banks. But as soon as the feet of the priests who were carrying the Ark touched the water at the river’s edge, 16 the water above that point began backing up a great distance away at a town called Adam, which is near Zarethan. And the water below that point flowed on to the Dead Sea[a] until the riverbed was dry. Then all the people crossed over near the town of Jericho. 17 Meanwhile, the priests who were carrying the Ark of the Lord’s Covenant stood on dry ground in the middle of the riverbed as the people passed by. They waited there until the whole nation of Israel had crossed the Jordan on dry ground.

When we step into our fear and trust in God’s power to move through us, we position ourselves to be participants in the miraculous. Notice, the water did not stop until the priests got their feet wet. When that still, small voice asks, “Do you trust me?” we need to commit to move forward through our fear.

Ephesians 3:20

20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.

God’s power in us can accomplish more than we could ever imagine, which is why we must remember the truth about His supernatural power.

THROUGH GODLY IDENTITY WE HARNESS GOD’S SUPERNATURAL POWER

Power in Progress:

Philippians 3:12-14

….But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. 13 No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it,[d] but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

Let us move forward to perfection, to resemble Christ Jesus more each day because our eyes are steadfastly focused on Him.

Power in Prayer:

James 5:16

16 Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.

Let us be earnest and consistent in prayer.

Power in Powerlessness:

2 Corinthians 12:9

9 Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.

Let us embrace our weaknesses because we know that when we are weak, God is strong.

Power in Presence:

1 Chronicles 16:28-30

28 O nations of the world, recognize the Lord, recognize that the Lord is glorious and strong. 29 Give to the Lord the glory he deserves! Bring your offering and come into his presence. Worship the Lord in all his holy splendor. 30 Let all the earth tremble before him. The world stands firm and cannot be shaken.

Let us be intentional in spending time in His presence as it is where we receive the fullness of His power.

Putting this into Practice

Identify an area of your life where you are struggling with fear instead of walking in faith.

  • What is one step you can take today to walk in God’s power through the fear?

  • Look up a different passage of Scripture on fear than those noted, write it out, meditate on it, and put it where you will see it daily.

  • Take five minutes today to pray and ask God to reveal His power to you and to give you what you need to live in faith over fear.

What is the “prize” that Paul is talking about in Philippians 3:12-14?

  • Take time to reflect on your life. Has your focus been on earthly “prizes” or the heavenly prize?

  • If earthly things have taken priority over our heavenly “prize” what is one thing you can do to realign your priorities?

  • Share with another believer one step you will take to keep your focus on the heavenly “prize”.

In your own words, answer the question “Why does God’s power work best in weakness?”

  • Find a different Scripture passage than the ones listed above or during the sermon to support this statement.

  • How does spending time in God’s presence help remind us of His power?

  • Dare to journal a prayer to God about something that is “infinitely more than you might ask or think” and pray, asking Him to reveal if it is something in line with His will for your life.
