ROBBED OF RICHES, WEEK 1: “Taking Back My Identity”
Deep Dive 6/22/2025
Confidence and Empowerment Through Christ
Isaiah 41:10
10 “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”
God wants us to have confidence that He will give us exactly what we need to face any circumstances that we encounter. We can walk in this confidence when personally know Jesus and believe that His authority is within us.
Psalm 27:1-3
1 The Lord is my light and my salvation—
so why should I be afraid?
The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger,
so why should I tremble?
2 When evil people come to devour me,
when my enemies and foes attack me,
they will stumble and fall.
3 Though a mighty army surrounds me,
my heart will not be afraid.
Even if I am attacked,
I will remain confident.
Hebrews 10:35-36
35 So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you! 36 Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.
We give fear a foothold when we look at our problems instead of focusing on His promises. It is up to us to choose to focus on what we know to be true of God and walk in confident trust in His love for us.
We are unable to walk in the calling God has for our lives when we do not walk boldly in confidence that He has empowered and will equip us for whatever He calls us to do. God created us to live an abundant, empowered life as we walk in harmony with Him and in obedience to His Word.
Hebrews 13:20-21
20 Now may the God of peace—who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great Shepherd of the sheep, and ratified an eternal covenant with his blood—
21 May he equip you with all you need for doing his will. May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to him. All glory to him forever and ever! Amen.
Psalm 1:1-3
1 Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked,
or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers.
2 But they delight in the law of the Lord,
meditating on it day and night.
3 They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season.
Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.
When we delight in God’s will and His plan and purpose for our life, that is when we find true satisfaction and a filling that nothing else can offer us. God created us to bear fruit as He empowers us to live confident lives built on the truth of His promises that we find in His Word.
Putting this into Practice
Are you living life grounded in the confidence that Jesus died to give you?
Do you struggle with fear and discouragement?
When attacks and trials come your way, where do you turn?
Look for encouragement in God’s Word. Take time today to identify two passages in Psalms that show what it looks like to walk in the confidence of knowing Jesus. Once identified, write them out and put them close by, to battle the lies that accompany fear and discouragement.
What are some ways God is “strengthening you and upholding you with His victorious right hand?”
Reflect on a struggle you have been through where you can now see how God was upholding you.
How can you bring God honoring fruit out of that struggle?
Pray and ask God to guide you to someone to share how He strengthened you and encourage them to seek God in their struggle.
In your own words, answer the question, “What are steps I can take to claim my identity in Christ?”
Find a different Scripture passage than the ones listed above or during the sermon to support your answer.
Write that passage out as another reminder of who you are in Christ.
Practice living a life of confidence in Christ through making prayer a priority.
