TODAY'S BIG IDEA
We don't have to live __________ of evil because we belong to a God who is __________ than anything that comes against us.
LOOKING BACK
Last week we learned: “Lead us not into ______________.”
This week Jesus takes us one step further: “Deliver us from __________.”
Jesus acknowledges that there is real spiritual ______________.
But He doesn't teach us to become obsessed with evil.
He teaches us to become _____________ on God.
WELCOME + REVIEW
What did you learn about your own vulnerabilities last week?________________________________________________________________
Did you establish a practical boundary or “way out”?________________________________________________________________
Practical obedience I want to celebrate or continue:_______________________________________________________
ICEBREAKER
WHO YOU WANT IN YOUR CORNER
If you were going into the biggest challenge of your life, who would you want standing beside you?________________________________________
What makes that person someone you trust?________________________________________________________________
Think about this:
When life gets difficult, who is in our __________ matters.
And Jesus teaches us to pray: “Deliver us from __________.”
READ THE WORD 2
Matthew 6:13 – “But deliver us from evil.”
Psalm 23:4 – “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me…”
1 John 4:4 – “He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”
What do these verses say about God's presence in difficult circumstances?
TEACHING NOTES
1. JESUS ACKNOWLEDGES THAT EVIL IS REAL
Christian faith doesn't require us to pretend evil doesn't exist.
Scripture talks openly about:
Temptation
Spiritual opposition
Deception
Suffering
Injustice
Evil
Important distinction:
Acknowledging evil isn't the same as __________ evil.
Jesus teaches us to pray: “Deliver us.”
Not: “We're __________.”
Not: “We're __________.”
The presence of a battle doesn't mean the absence of __________.
Psalm 23 doesn't say: “I never walk through valleys.”
It says: “You are __________ me.”
2. OUR CONFIDENCE COMES FROM GOD'S PRESENCE
Psalm 23:4 – “I will fear no evil, for you are with me.”
Notice the reason David doesn't fear.
It's not: “Nothing __________ can happen.”
It's: “God is __________ me.”
That's a completely different kind of confidence.
Biblical courage isn't the absence of danger. It is confidence in God's __________ in the middle of danger.
You may still walk through the valley.
But you don't walk through it __________.
3. WE FIGHT FROM VICTORY, NOT FOR VICTORY
Ephesians 6:10 – “Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.”
Notice where the strength comes from: The __________.
Not our personality.
Not our willpower.
Not our ability to control everything.
James 4:7 – “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil…”
Notice the order: __________ → __________
Spiritual authority begins with spiritual ______________.
We don't defeat darkness by becoming stronger than God.
We stand under God's ____________.
4. DELIVERANCE IS MORE THAN ESCAPING TROUBLE
Sometimes when we pray: “Deliver me…”
We mean: “Get me __________ of this situation.”
And God absolutely can do that.
But sometimes deliverance looks different.
Sometimes God delivers you __________ something rather than __________ something.
Biblical Examples
Daniel went into the __________ den.
The Hebrew men went into the __________.
Paul went through __________.
David walked through ____________.
Sometimes God delivers you from the storm. Sometimes He delivers you in the storm.
Either way: He's __________ you.
That's why our confidence isn't based on our _______________.
It's based on God's _____________.
DISCUSSION
1. Why is it important to acknowledge that evil is real without becoming obsessed with it?________________________________________________
2. What's the difference between courage and pretending nothing bad can happen?____________________________________________________
3. What does it mean to “fight from victory rather than for victory”?________________________________________________________________
4. Have you ever experienced God delivering you from a difficult situation?_______________________________________________________
5. Have you ever experienced God sustaining you through something He didn't immediately remove?________________________________________________________________

We trust Your __________.

WEEK 9 TAKE-HOME CHALLENGE 7
THE “GOD IS WITH ME” CHALLENGE
Whenever fear rises this week, don't immediately rehearse everything that could go wrong.
Stop and say: “God is __________ me.”
Then attach a Scripture to it.
FEAR: “God is with me.” — Psalm 23:4
TEMPTATION: “God provides a way out.” — 1 Corinthians 10:13
UNCERTAINTY: “Trust in the Lord…” — Proverbs 3:5–6
SPIRITUAL OPPOSITION: “Greater is He…” — 1 John 4:4
The goal: Train your first response to fear to become prayer instead of panic
