GALATIANS: CHOOSE FREEDOM - WEEK 2

“THE BLESSING COMES BY BELIEVING”

Deep Dive 8/10/2025

FAITH MAKES YOU A TRUE CHILD OF GOD

Hebrews 11:6

And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.

Our faith in God is what sets us apart from the world. When we have faith that God is in control, we are free to love others as God calls us to love. We do not have to fear what people may say or do because we know that God has the last word and that His promises are true.

1 Corinthians 2:1-5

And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom. For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. And I was with you in weakness and in fear and much trembling, and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.

In 1 Corinthians 2, Paul shares with the early believers the importance that our faith rest singularly upon God’s power, not in man. Only God knows our innermost thoughts and fears. Only God is able to meet us right where we are in our time of need. Only God will never fail us nor forsake us. Only God chases after us with a love that knows no boundaries. Only God’s power will be evident to us and through us because of our faith.

Habakkuk 4:2

“Look at the proud! They trust in themselves, and their lives are crooked. But the righteous will live by their faithfulness to God.”

Faith- Biblical faith is a confident trust in the promises, character, and power of God, leading to a life shaped by that trust. Faith is something we live out – it is put on display through our actions of surrender and obedience to God’s call. This is in direct contrast with pride. The proud trust in their own understanding, not in the promises of God.

WHERE ARE YOU TODAY? ARE YOU WALKING FORWARD IN FAITH THAT GOD IS IN CONTROL AND WILL LEAD YOU ON THE BEST PATH FOR YOUR LIFE?? OR ARE YOU CLINGING TO PRIDE, THINKING THAT YOUR WAY IS BETTER THAN WHAT GOD HAS IN STORE FOR YOU?

1 John 5:1-5

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has become a child of God. And everyone who loves the Father loves his children, too. We know we love God’s children if we love God and obey his commandments. Loving God means keeping his commandments, and his commandments are not burdensome. For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faithAnd who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God.

We are victorious through our faith as children of God. Our faith in God enables us to love others, keep His commandments, and walk in victory over the trials of this world. It is only through our faith - believing Jesus is the Son of God and we are God’s children - that we can stand firm against the schemes of the enemy.

PUTTING THIS INTO PRACTICE

Where is your faith today? Is it in a place of strength, or are you battling some lies that are causing it to waver?

  • Read all of Hebrews 11. Now re-read it in a different translation. Think about these heroes of faith and what it must have been like for them to believe and step out without having the evidence of Jesus that we have today. Borrow some of their faith as you move on through the action steps.

  • Faith is the evidence of things we cannot see. What is one area of your life where you are struggling to have faith? Share with a believing friend or your small group one step you can take to move forward in faith for your circumstance.

  • Journal a prayer to God asking Him to specifically help you step out in faith in the area identified above. Be accountable and share that one step with a trusted Christian friend.

Do you understand the freedom we have when we walk in faith? Faith leads us to fullness of life in Christ Jesus.

  • Read Ephesians 3:12-20. Which verse resonated with you today? Write it down and think on it through the week.

  • Where do you need help walking in boldness and confidence in your life? Write a prayer asking God to meet you in that struggle, to empower you through His strength!

  • Find another passage in Scripture that speaks about faith in God and write it out as a reminder.

Did you know that God takes notice of our faith? Peter encourages us that God sees our faith and makes note. It is through my faith that God’s power protects me.

  • Read 1 Peter 1:5-9.

  • Think of a time that you can see how God’s power protected you through your faith. Write it down and share it with your small group or a believing friend.

  • What is one trial that has served to refine your faith? Take time today to thank God for that trial and praise Him for stretching your faith so that you can receive more of His power.
